In the late 70s Gibson together with Moog (both companies were part of the Norlin Group at the time), Gibson developed guitars and basses for the RD Artist series ("Research and Development") in a traditional design with innovative electronics. Thanks to the purely active electronics/circuitry, the bass is very versatile in terms of sound and therefore differs enormously from its passive contemporaries.

This bass from 1979 is in good condition. The fingerboard and back have some minor varnish damage and pressure marks. The electronics work perfectly.
