In 1978, the traditional guitar maker C.F. Martin & Co introduced the HD-35 model. It combines the three-piece back of the D-35 with a herringbone top binding, a pre-war style maple bridge plate and hand-carved scalloped bracing. The ebony fingerboard has a white binding. The 35 series is particularly popular with bluegrass and acoustic musicians.
This guitar comes from the first owner, who bought it from Mandolin Bros. Ltd. in the USA. A short time later, he had the then still Munich Repair Shop (now Munich Guitar Company) to convert the dot inlays to snowflake, which enhanced their appearance even more. The clamp tuners are original, the bridge inlay and nut are made of bone, the ebony bridge and strap pins with pearl dot are not original. The guitar has only minor signs of use for its age, the varnish on the back and sides is slightly discolored due to a chemical reaction with a stand.
