Antonio Marín Montero was born in Granada in 1933. In 1957 he began working in the workshop of master craftsman Pérez, and two years later, in 1959, his father advised him to visit Eduardo Ferrer, for whom he worked until he opened his own workshop. A milestone in Antonio Marin Montero's career was his meeting with the French guitar maker Robert Bouchet in the 1970s. The two became friends and built several guitars together. The combination of Marin Montero's Spanish construction system and Robert Bouchet's very special bracing was a great source of inspiration for Antonio Marin Montero, and he built a model with " Robert Bouchet " bracing throughout his career. Today, Antonio Marin Montero is one of the most sought-after Spanish guitar makers.
This instrument with the number 911 is from the exclusive "Premium" series. This very limited production, built by Antonio Marin Montero with stunning Cites-certified Brazilian rosewood, is the holy grail of contemporary Spanish guitars. Today, this guitar is one of the most sought-after instruments built by an active luthier; in a few decades it will undoubtedly be the centerpiece of a world-class guitar collection.
This Marin Montero has many unique details that make it a true work of art. The exclusivity of the woods used is obvious. Built in 2021 and coming directly from Montero's workshop, this traditional guitar was crafted with a very appealing "bear claw" spruce top. The Cites-certified Brazilian rosewood has fascinating orange reflections and a spectacular grain. It is worth mentioning that this guitar is one of the few whose number can be found on the label.
This guitar has a typical and easily recognizable "Antonio Marin Montero" sound, with a wonderfully rich timbre and a very Spanish character that stems from the famous Granadine guitar making tradition. This premium model features extraordinarily compact trebles with a multi-layered palette of timbres and extremely long sustain. It is a very well-balanced instrument, both visually and tonally, which also has the amazing ability to respond to any style of playing. Whether played hard or soft, with nails or without, digging deep into the strings or just lightly stroking them, this guitar can produce a correspondingly powerful, soft, charming and poetic sound.
The classical guitar is in great condition and comes from a first-hand owner.
A cite on the origin of the Rio Palisander is enclosed.
