Incredibly great 1962 Fender Stratocaster with an interesting history, which you can find at our colleagues from ATB-Guitars can read about. There is even a videobut unfortunately without a sound sample. Originally it was a sunburst Strat, which its owner had refinished in Olympic White around the end of the sixties, before he kept it in a case for decades and hardly ever played it. The repainting was carried out by none other than Ted Lee who at the time worked for Selmer the imported Fender guitars for Selmer. At that time, mostly only sunburst Strats were available, but thanks to Hank Marvin there was a lot of demand for Fiesta Red. The Strats that the Beatles bought, he refinished Sonic Blue.
The varnish of this beautiful '62 Strat now has slight crackles, the neck has not darkened, the decal was replaced at the time, but with an incorrect type (unfortunately there was not much choice at the time). In the course of the repainting, Mamelok in Manchester also carried out a new coating. The pickguard is still rather gray and has not turned greenish. The electronics are included. Black bottom pickups completely original and works perfectly. Since the pickguard is minimally shrunk in contrast to the aluminum shield, the intermediate positions can be easily adjusted despite the 3-way switch.
The slabboard fingerboard made of Rio rosewood is almost as dark as ebony and has hardly any traces of use.
The sound is so typical Strat...powerful, but also fine (a little darker than the Strats of the mid-sixties, but that's all a matter of taste).
It's hard to believe that it hasn't been played much, because it sounds really wonderful.
We would prefer to keep them ourselves.
