A Goldtop treasure with history - original parts, genuine PAFs, refin & sound for life.
This Les Paul Goldtop from 1957 is one of the rare early '57 models that were still delivered from the factory with P-90 pickups - shortly before Gibson switched to humbuckers (PAF).
And it was precisely this step that the first owner took some time ago (70s) in the USA: professionally converted to PAFs and (allegedly) refinished at Gibson, while retaining many original parts.
The centerpiece: Two genuine PAF pickups, checked by Andreas Kloppmann and dated 1961/62.
The sound? Exactly what you'd expect from early PAFs - open, three-dimensional, sweetly singing with a tight response.
This guitar was owned by the Bavarian cabaret artist and musician Günter Grünwald and was made by Ten Guitars professionally appraised and provided with the necessary CITES documentation for the
Fingerboard made of Brazilian Rosewood.
The previous owner for many years was Axel Heilheckerguitarist, composer and author for Grand Guitars magazine, among others.
There are several articles about this guitar:
