A very rare beauty.
Only 23 of this model were produced in 1958, of which only a handful were fitted with a Bigsby vibrato ex works.
The Byrdland after the two session guitarists Hank Garland and Billy Byrd, who were jointly responsible for its creation.
Gibson produced this guitar model for the two musicians in 1955 according to their wishes and ideas.
Based on an L-5CES, the scale length and nut width were reduced to facilitate faster melodic runs and extended chord voicings.
New pickups with narrower pole spacing had to be designed specifically for this purpose (the birth of the legendary PAF pickups).
The body depth also became slimmer, making it the first thinline guitar in the Gibson portfolio.
