1973 Ovation – 1617 4 – Legend – ID 3863

The body shape of the acoustic guitar that best reproduces all frequencies is round or half-bowl shaped.
This was the conclusion reached by the engineers and technicians under the leadership of Charles Kaman in the 1960s.
The idea of the Ovation was born, and the rest is history.
The headstock of the Legend on offer was professionally shafted a long time ago after it broke.
The varnish on the spruce top has several hairline cracks and the knob comes from a Gretsch.
The bowl has a crack in one place and was glued with black adhesive tape.

This 1617 Legend comes from the collection of Wolfgang Schmid, he was guitarist and singer of "The Dynamites" (German Beat Champion South) (3x Starclub 1964)
Wolfgang later also made a name for himself as a bassist, playing the 4-string with Klaus Doldinger's Passport, among others.
