2015 Gibson – Les Paul – CC28 A Ronnie Montrose – ID 5615

The Gibson Custom Shop Collector's Choice #28A Ronnie Montrose - STP Burst is a strictly limited replica of the legendary 1958 Les Paul Standard with the serial number 8 6787.
The original belonged to Ronnie Montrose and shaped the sound of the first two Montrose albums. The guitar got its name from the characteristic red silhouette of a removed STP sticker, which remained visible in the aged sunburst.

In 2015, the Gibson Custom Shop developed this guitar in close collaboration with Peter Weihelongtime owner of the original (video), recreated this guitar down to the smallest detail - including neck profile, aging and pickup specifications. The edition was limited to a maximum of 300 copies worldwide.

This STP 'Burst was additionally equipped with an individually tuned Peter-Weihe-Kloppmann humbucker set and NOS Bumble Bee capacitors to get even closer to the sound of the historic original. The result is an extremely assertive, powerful vintage tone with exceptional sustain - a real collector's and player's guitar.
