This 1977 Mark I is one of the amps that Randall Smith laid the foundation for everything that followed. Santana, Larry Carlton, Keith Richards, and numerous other guitarists discovered back then that something completely new had been created: an amplifier capable of delivering both enormous clean headroom and singing overdrive tones.
Unlike many of the later high-gain monsters from Petaluma, the early Mark I has a remarkable openness and dynamic range. Every note is rendered instantly, and every nuance of the guitar remains audible.
A true vintage boogie from the company's pioneering days—rare, full of character, and one of the most important amplifiers in modern guitar history.
The amp was thoroughly checked. Four new power tubes were installed, and a cap job was done.
