This early Gretsch Jet Firebird was designed in the style of AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young and embodies the uncompromising rock'n'roll character for which these guitars have become legendary.
The history of the instrument is exciting: the Control Cavity label refers to a model 6128-3 (Duo Jet) from 1956, while body details tend to point to a Jet Firebird from 1957/58.
Based on the thumbnail inlays and zero fret, the neck probably dates from 1959.
But none of that really matters!
In terms of sound, the guitar delivers exactly what you would expect: dry response, aggressive attack and enormous assertiveness. The built-in FilterTron pickups with U.S. Patent Number produce the classic Gretsch board - perfect for open crunch sounds and classic AC/DC rhythm guitar tone.
The red/black look in the Jet Firebird style also makes this instrument a real eye-catcher.
