A truly exceptional instrument in the world of boutique guitar making of the 1980s: the Tom Holmes THC Jupiter Thunderbird Hollowbody. As far as is known, only two units of this model were produced .
Tom Holmes is one of the most respected American guitar builders and pickup designers. His instruments have been played by, among others, Billy Gibbons and Bo Diddley .
In the mid-1980s, Holmes moved to Gibson, where he played a key role in the reissue of the legendary '57 Classic pickup. His PAF replicas, which he later hand-wound under his own name, continue to enjoy cult status among collectors and guitarists to this day.
Matthias Jabs of the Scorpions discovered this rare specimen years ago at Pete's Guitar in Minnesota during a U.S. tour and later sold it to a collector in Munich.
