This 2025 Fender Custom Shop '63 Stratocaster was designed by Jason Smith to be an exceptionally resonant instrument. The select two-piece alder body, a quarter-sawn maple neck, and an AAA rosewood fingerboard form the classic foundation of an early '63 Strat. Weighing just 3,415 grams, it is superbly balanced and responds exceptionally quickly.
The pickup combination is particularly well-chosen: a Texas Special at the bridge, a Fat '50s in the middle, and a '69 Strat pickup at the neck. The result is a Strat that can handle just about anything, from bell-like vintage clean tones to that signature "quack" and everything in between, right up to assertive blues and rock sounds.
Visually, the Heavy Relic model in Aged Olympic White is a standout; in terms of build quality and tone, it ranks among the best Masterbuilt Strats we've had at the Captain Guitar Lounge so far.
