These early Hamer-models (founded in 1973) are now American boutique guitars of the late 70s and early 80s - long before boutique guitars became a big thing.
The Prototype was one of the most innovative models of its time: Honduras mahogany body, glued-in mahogany neck and the then completely unusual combination of DiMarzio humbucker and single coil in a single pickup ring. This made the Hamer Prototype one of the first production guitars ever to consistently combine humbucker and single-coil sounds.
This example was additionally equipped with a Floyd rose (with milling) and thus combines classic vintage tone with significantly more modern performance and tuning stability.

In terms of sound, the guitar delivers exactly what you would expect from an early US Hamer: plenty of steam, sustain, aggressive mids, direct response and lots of character.
